About

Axminster Care Service is a local charity, with an enthusiastic team of around 40 members, helping people registered, or in the area of Axminster Medical Practice, receive the care they need.

Via our framework, as set up in accordance with the Charity Commission, to fill the holes left by the Health and Social Services provision, our local volunteers provide those in need with a vast range of services. We hope to make life just that little bit easier when things get tough, whether that’s from age, disability, housing, or education difficulties.

We sponsor a range of programmes at Axe Valley Community College, and Axminster Primary Academy, supporting the area’s youngsters in becoming the great achievers they aspire to be. Should their parents not be able to afford it, we would hate to see schoolchildren missing out, which is why we provide special grants to enable them to take part in educational trips, the supply of school clothing etc.

We also aid other local groups, such as local Churches, Nourish, Pippins Community Centre, ARC counselling service, Flamingo Pool and many more, by providing funding for projects they are having trouble raising money for.

Axminster Care Service is largely funded by our Charity Shop, without which, a lot of our services wouldn’t be possible.

Transport Service

Our efficient transport service is what we are known for best, as it provides a useful link to your hospital, surgery, and chiropody appointments, when you are unable to provide transport for yourself. A mileage allowance for travel expenses means our drivers can cover around 2000 trips per year, ensuring that all of those that need it may benefit from this service.

To arrange your transport just give us a call on 01297 35550 between 9.30am and 10.30am Monday to Friday.

We are always looking for people to volunteer their driving services, enabling us to reach more and more people in need. If you’re interested, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
